Understanding coach account roles

Admin

Admin coach accounts have full access to the WrestlingIQ system, which allows them to view, create, edit, and delete almost anything in your team's account. It's important to have admins within your account, but it's also important to limit admin access to coaches (or other individuals) who truly need this level of access. Admins have the following abilities:
  • Coach accounts. Can view, create, edit, and delete all other coach accounts.
  • Parent accounts. Can view, create, edit, merge, and delete parent accounts.
  • Wrestlers. Can view, create, edit, invite, merge, and delete wrestler accounts.
  • Rosters. Can view, create, edit, and manage rosters.
  • Videos. Can view, create, edit, and delete.
  • Stats. Can view, create, edit, and delete.
  • Financial data. Full access to reporting, transaction details, and creating, editing, and deleting paid sessions, memberships, scholarship codes, and fundraisers.
  • Parent/Wrestler information. Can view, create, edit, and delete information recorded in the system. 
  • Calendar, including events, practice plans, event invites, and attendance. Can view, credit, edit, and delete anything within the calendaring system.
  • Messaging. Can view, create, edit, and delete messages and manage message group membership (including creating new groups).
  • Documents. Can view, create, edit, and delete team documents, liability forms, and other docs that require signatures.
  • Reports. Access to all reports.
  • All team settings, including creating and editing registration questions and check-in questions.

Assistant (without roster restrictions)

Assistant coach accounts provide a limited set of functionality to help other members of the coaching staff (or organization, such as managers or volunteers) run the team. Assistant coach accounts are the recommended role for most coaches and staff members. Assistants, without roster restrictions have the following abilities:

  • Coach accounts. Can view other coach accounts.
  • Parent accounts, Can view, create, edit, merge, and delete parent accounts.
  • Wrestler accounts, Can view, create, edit, merge, and delete parent accounts.
  • Rosters. Can view, create, edit, and manage rosters.
  • Videos. Can view, create, edit, and delete.
  • Stats. Can view, create, edit, and delete.
  • Financial data. Assistants do not have access to any financial data. If you want to let assistant coaches check whether an athlete has paid for a certain session or not, we recommend using roster syncers. This allows for a list of good standing wrestlers to be built, without exposing financial transactions, scholarships, etc.
  • Parent/wrestler info. Can view, create, edit, and delete information in the system.
  • Calendar, including events, practice plans, event invites, and attendance. Can view, credit, edit, and delete anything within the calendaring system.
  • Messaging. Can view, create, edit, and delete messages and manage message group membership (including creating new groups).
  • Documents. Assistants do not have access to creating, editing, or modifying team documents.
  • Most reports are available to assistants, with the exception of financial reports.
  • No access to team settings is available to assistants.

Assistant (with roster restrictions)

If you'd like to lock down access for certain assistants further, you can restrict their access to specific rosters. When roster restricted, assistants have the same abilities as other assistants, except they will not be able to view, or access in any way, any parent or wrestler who is not part of a roster they have access to. 

Roster restricted assistants are commonly used when you have satellite teams, or you have volunteers who are only coaches for specific age groups within your organization. It also helps those assistants use WrestlingIQ, because they will not have to sift through a bunch of irrelevant data to help improve the wrestlers they are coaching.
