How to Allow Parents to Pause Subscriptions

Self pauses are turned off for each team by default. To turn on the ability for members to pause their subscriptions navigate to the Registration page under your team settings. Select 'Edit self pause settings'.

Some of the settings you will be able to control regarding self pauses include:

  1. Member ability to self pause
  2. Length(s) of pause periods offered
  3. Frequency of pauses allowed
  4. Pause policy to be displayed to member

The right hand side of the screen will show you an example of what the member will see when they go to pause their subscription based on your settings:

Why have a Pause Policy? A clear pause policy prevents misunderstandings about billing, attendance, and reinstatement.

Without a defined pause policy, members may expect unlimited flexibility, stop paying without notice, or assume they can rejoin at the same rate months later. A formal system ensures fairness, predictability, and professionalism.

Sample pause policy

Shared with permission to re-use from a club owner. Feel free to use it in WIQ for your own policy, just replace the length of time in the 'How Pausing Works' section with your billing period settings.

Why We Offer Pauses

Pausing lets you take a break without losing your place. While your membership is paused, we hold your training times, roster spot, and pricing, so you won't have to join a waitlist when you come back.

Cancelling After a Pause - Cancellation Fees

If you cancel within 2 billing periods after your membership resumes, you'll be charged a cancellation fee equal to the billing periods you skipped while paused. This policy helps us keep our rosters at capacity without putting kids on a waitlist unnecessarily.

Example: If you paused for 3 billing periods at $75 each, the cancellation fee would be $225.

How Pausing Works

You can pause your membership for x to y months (x to y billing periods). To resume early, message our Customer Service team on WrestlingIQ.

Pause Limits

You can pause once every 12 months. If you need more time off, you can schedule make-up classes, or for longer breaks, cancel and rejoin later.

Injury Exceptions

We can make exceptions for injuries with a doctor's note. To request one, message our Customer Service team on WrestlingIQ.
